PAMBELE !! Musica afro-Colombiana
desde Lyon, Francia.
En su primer Opus, Pambelé logra una travesia inédita entre las influencias afrocolombianas y las sonoridades ácidas y penetrantes del movimiento psicodélico de los años sesenta. Esta amalgama posiciona al grupo con fuerza en la universalidad cultural transatlántica y, de manera definitiva, caribeña.
Dentro de este conjunto musical, las percusiones tradicionales de la costa norte de Colombia entrelazan sus ritmos con la cadencia alegre de las voces. Las guitarras, con su verbo esculpido, acompañadas de la voluptuosidad de órganos salvajes, nos sumergen en una atmósfera ardiente y exuberante.
Criollización* ( también traducido como “creolizacion” ) es un concepto creado por Édouard Glissant que engloba la idea de un “consciente de sí mismo”, desarrollado en sus obras Sol de la conciencia (1956), Poética de la relación (1990) y Tratado de Todo-Mundo (1997). El término proviene de la palabra criollo, del portugués crioulo,3 que a su vez, se deriva del verbo criar ‘crear; criar’. La criollización es un mestizaje con un valor añadido, el que le confierela imprevisibilidad.
PRESENTACION
Pambelé, se sumerge en un apasionante periplo sonoro, explorando las intrincadas conexiones entre las músicas denominadas “tradicionales” del Caribe colombiano y las influencias sonoras psicodélicas occidentales.
El combo establecido en Francia es una amalgama de talentos, cuyos miembros han colaborado con destacados artistas como el franco-caribeño David Walters, el Brasilero Joao Selva, los vanguardistas del Jazz francés de la Bigre Big Band, las Maestras colombianas Nidia Gongora y Petrona Martinez o incluso con estrellas latinoamericanas como Juan Luis Guerra, Luis Miguel o Toto la Momposina, se presenta como un crisol de experiencias que construye puentes sin temor entre lo autóctono y lo global.
Además, al ser parte activa de la escena musical emergente en Francia , nutren sus conocimientos y amplían sus redes de colaboración con numerosos actores del sector cultural entre el Caribe y Europa. De esta manera, el combo se construye con una “multi-culturalidad” propia de los viajes y los encuentros, creando un terreno de juego con múltiples huellas humanas y artísticas.
En su primer Opus, Pambelé nos invita a una experiencia sonora única, re-imaginando las peregrinaciones transatlánticas con una interacción apasionante entre elementos de la cultura rock, punk, pop y las raíces profundas de la cultura afrocolombiana de la Costa Atlantica y el Caribe.
Pambelé emerge como una experiencia envolvente, un condensado de materia compuesta y cruda a la vez. Asumiendo una propuesta musical mestiza y plural, se libera de los dictámenes comerciales, manteniéndose siempre fieles a su motivación inicial: entretener ese vínculo inquebrantable entre el baile y el trance, entre lo natural y lo salvaje, que nos sumerge en un universo sonoro profundo y poderoso.

In their debut opus Pambelé weaves sparkling threads of 60’s psychedelia into a tapestry of Afro-Colombian influence, an- nouncing their elegant arrival in the transatlantic and definitively Caribbean cultural panorama.
Therein, cheerful voices jubilate while tambor alegre and Farfisa cut shapes shoulder to shoulder and waves of electric guitar and saxophone crash upon Colombia’s northern coastline in wild, torrid celebration.
Pambelé embarks on a captivating sonic journey, exploring the intricate connections between “traditional” music of the Colombian Caribbean and Western psychedelic influences. Their music is a boundless playground drawing nourishment from the culture of trance, improvisation and dance.
Based in France, this ensemble is a fusion of talents from Colombia, France, New Zealand, Panama and Italy.
Its members have collaborated with prominent artists such as the franco-caribbean David Walters, brazilian Joao Selva, avant-garde figures from the French Jazz scene in Bigre Big Band, Colombian maestras as Nidia Gongora and Petrona Martinez, and Latin American stars like Juan Luis Guerra, Luis Miguel, and Toto la Momposina. The Combo presents itself as a crucible of experiences, fearlessly bridging the gap between the indigenous and the global.
Pambelé’s first album imagines a transatlantic pilgrimage, departing from the rock and pop-steeped stations of Europe and arriving in the deep roots of Afro-Colombian culture from the Atlantic and Caribbean coasts.
BIOGRAPHY
Mario Vargas, Lorenzo Morrone, Luisa Caceres, and Alex Lefko decided to form a collective highlighting the Afro-Colombian traditional rhythms of the Atlantic coast in France.
The group then began to perform on stage in Lyon, boosted by collaborations with local singers such as Rebecca Roger and Margaux Delatour (Parranda La Cruz, Pixvae, Ti’kaniki..).
Over time the band’s taste widened to encompass “Picos”
- Colombian Soundsystems where blasted the popular “Cham- petas Africanas, psychedelic 60’s Cumbias, and the godparents of the genre as Abelardo Carbono, the stars of the Machuca label... and this widening taste was echoed in a reconfigured band line-up.
Electric instruments arrived in Pambelé!
With the addition of french keyboardist Paul Charnay and New Zealander guitarist Giles Davenport, Pambelé adopted its final form: a condensed raw material where the trance of drums and traditional song gracefully intertwines with the Farfisa organ and its devastating riffs, and finely thistled and bewitching phrases of psychedelic guitaristry.
After accumulating significant stage experience together, the group decided to compose its first opus.
To round out this harmonious tableau and provide a focal point, Pambelé passes the mic to Panamanian singer Yomira John. Her sincere, warm, and incisive voice, heard alongside, envel- ops the combo with passion.
Through this blending, Pambelé forcefully inscribes itself in a transatlantic cultural universality and offers both in its debut album and on stage an unlimited playground, a voluptuous, torrid, and exuberant trance.
AVANT PROPOS
Riche de plusieurs siècles de créolisation*, la musique du bassin caribéen compte parmi les plus diverses au monde et avec la Sono Mondiale, les répertoires traversent les océans et ne cessent de s’enrichir dans une mise en abîme sonore et nar- rative.
Dans son premier spectacle, Pambelé marie influences Afro colombiennes et sonorités acides et perçantes du mouvement psyché des sixties. Par ce métissage, le groupe s’inscrit avec force dans une universalité culturelle transatlantique et défin- itivement caribéenne.
Au sein de cet ensemble, percussions traditionnelles de la côte nord de La Colombie s’entrelacent et se mêlent à la cadence joyeuse des voix où Le verbe ciselant des guitares, accompagnées d’une volupté d’orgues sauvages nous entraîne dans une atmosphère torride et exubérante.
Pambelé est une transe envoûtante, un condensé de matière composite et brute à la fois. Un terrain de jeu sans limite où la culture de la transe, de l’improvisation et de la danse, constitue l’essence même de sa force.
PRESENTATION
Pambelé, est composé de 7 musiciens qui explorent les connexions entre les musiques dites « tradition- nelles » de la Caraïbe colombienne et les influences sonores Psychées » occidentales.
Leur membres ont collaboré ou collaborent dans des projets artistiques tels que David Walters, Joao Selva, Bigre Big Band, Electric Mamba, The Bongo Hop, Bru- no Patchworks ou encore avec des artistes de renom international comme, Ricky Martin, Luis Miguel, Totó La Momposina, Nidia Góngora, Juan Luis Guerra.
En faisant partie active de la scène musicale natio- nale émergente, Ils nourrissent leurs connaissances et amplifient leurs réseaux de collaboration avec de nombreux acteurs du secteur culturel en France au- tant qu’à l’étranger.
Le combo se construit ainsi avec une « multi culturalité » propre aux voyages et aux rencontres, pour créer un terrain de jeu à multiples empreintes humaines et artistiques.
Ils proposent dans ce premier Opus, une nouvelle lec- ture des pérégrinations sonores Transatlantiques En accordant les éléments propres de la culture rock, punk et pop à la culture Afro-caribéenne.
Pambelé assume une proposition musicale métissée et plurielle, synchrétique, se dédouanant des diktats commerciaux et en restant toujours fidèles à leur mo- tivation première : Entretenir ce lien indéfectible entre la danse et la transe, entre le naturel et le sauvage, qui nous propulse dans un univers sonore profond et puissant.
